First-line review over daily budgeting, forecasting and reporting deliverables — with the evidence trail behind client assurance.
About the role
Oban Academy is a middle-office outsourcing partner delivering Fund Administration, Corporate Treasury, FP&A and Digital Solutions from Mauritius, Madagascar and India. As a FP&A Analyst you provide the first line of review over the day-to-day deliverables for your assigned clients — validating data, checking outputs against source documents and client procedures, and flagging exceptions for escalation.
Key responsibilities
Budgeting, forecasting & data quality control
- Consolidate budget and forecast inputs from departments and cost centres against client templates and SOPs.
- Check the completeness and accuracy of inputs (actuals, budget submissions, general-ledger extracts, KPI data).
- Identify discrepancies, breaks or anomalies, log them, and escalate items outside tolerance to the Senior Analyst/Supervisor.
- Maintain the quality-control checklist and the audit evidence trail behind client assurance.
Management reporting & variance analysis support
- Support management reporting packs, dashboards and KPI trackers by verifying calculations and supporting schedules.
- Assist with variance analysis — actual vs budget vs forecast — preparing supporting commentary for review.
- Prepare draft management reporting packs for review prior to release.
Records, data & client knowledge
- Keep budget, forecast and reporting records accurate, filed and version-controlled in the relevant FP&A systems and the Oban platform.
- Update trackers — budget cycles, submission deadlines, action logs — as required.
- Build working knowledge of your client entities, cost structures and reporting deadlines, and suggest process improvements.
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline — final-year students and recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- 0–2 years in FP&A, financial analysis or financial services (internships count).
- Part-progress towards ACCA, ACA, CFA or CIMA is an advantage, but not required at this level.
- Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook, and comfortable adopting new digital and AI-enabled tools.
What we’re looking for
- Attention to detail — methodical and precise, with a zero-tolerance approach to data and reporting errors.
- Analytical ability — able to interpret financial data and spot variances against expectations.
- Adaptability — comfortable working alongside AI-driven processes and evolving workflows.
- Communication — clear, professional written communication for escalation and documentation.
- Ownership — reliable and organised, managing your own workload against reporting deadlines.
